Customer Reviews:

  A nice collectors item (28 September 2008)
I first tried ordering this from here a couple of days after it released, but the order was cancelled when the supplier could not fulfil it. Turned out waiting was a mistake, because as you know, it pretty much sold out completely within the day! Anyhow, after many e-mails and telephone calls, I managed to find a local store who had an employee with a copy they had read and no longer wanted. £5 and a bottle of wine later, my gift to an avid Harry Potter collector was finally in my hands.

Sure, to me it's not worth £5 at all, not for the two pages that people are buying it for. Evidently though, it's a sought after thing now, as the prices on here and eBay reflect that. As a result, it gets 5 stars for making one Harry Potter collector very happy.

A prequel to Harry Potter you say... (07 September 2008)
Yes, this postcard book does contain a two postcard long prequel to Harry Potter regarding the escapades of James and Sirius but it's nothing all that exciting. Not a lot happens, definitely not five pounds worth anyway. However, there is something strangly pleasing about seeing J.K.R's work in her own fair hand.

Some of the other postcards are quite entertaining and possibly more interesting than the Harry Potter prequel in their own way. However, you are much more likely to get something out of this book if you are a fan of one of the authors. Among the famous names contributing are: Nick Hornby, Michael Rosen, Nick Hornby, Sebastian Faulks, Lauren Child and a lot more besides.

My advice is pick this up as cheap as you can, probably second hand if you're just going to read the Harry Potter Prequel and then toss it to one side. This is a nice gift for a real bookworm or very avid Harry Potter fan, but you may find it's not worth its original price tag of £5.
