Not only does it give good clear descriptions of exercises, but it covers everything from basic techniques right through to coaching attacking & defending and positional play. Coaches that are new to the game and have no basic training will also find some great help in dealing with parents, setting up coaching sessions, handling difficult players and also ethical values. I would advise any budding coach to get some formal training through their football association, but if that is not possible then this book is definitely the next best thing and covers many topics that you'll find on coaching courses. I agree with Rick Siler. In re-reading my review of this book, I realized that it sounded rather lukewarm. Actually, this is one of the best overall books on youth soccer coaching that I have found so far. There are a lot of useful tips on technique, and a very good section on defense. | ![]() |
