For me, the insight into the rise of Clare and the inner workings of Loughnane are the most rewarding, but open any random page and you'll find terrific anecdotes and memories. How hurling yearns for a championship only half as competitive as these years. The book does an amazing job of taking the reader back to the days when the country was upside-down with the excitement of pulsating championship summers. For the fan, it's a superior reminiscence but for those interested in what drives elite sports teams and players, you'll not find better. Very highly recommended. A great read with excellent insights into the hearts and minds of the people who play and administer hurling in Ireland. If you are interested in sports psychology then this is also a very inspirational book into how the mentality of players in sport plays as much a part as physical prowess. | ![]() |
