(02 May 2003)J.K Rowling not only astounds us with another great instalment in the Harry Potter saga, but Stephen Fry mesmorises us with his fabulous reading, again! Fry is the perfect narrator to this wonderful audio cassette. He brings the charcters to life, and turns the story into a living dream! He even manages to scare you with the "headless voice" (embaressing to admit, but its true). Though i did not enjoy the book as much as the others, this audio cassette is absoloutly fantastic, and i go to sleep listening to it many a night! An absoloutly worthwhile investment, especially if you haven't the patience to keep reading the books! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Wonderful night time listening! It is long with 6 cassettes, but it moves along at a good pace. The way Fry plays Lockhart is the best part of the reading. He captures the right voice and tone for this character, much better than Kenneth Branagh in the movie, although to be fair Branagh is not given all the lines. This is the book as written by J K Rowling, every last word. I would highly recommend this, especially if you have children and are faced by long car journeys. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Excellent. Very enjoyable, particularly as it's unabridged. (13 February 2002)I loved the Harry Potter books and therefore wanted to buy the cassettes. When I found out that they weren't full-cast dramatisations I had a few misgivings. I didn't think one person would be able to do the book justice. I was wrong - Stephen Fry is excellent and each character has a distinctive voice (Hagrid's is especially good). Although it is long, it definitely does not drag on. I would recommend it to anyone - children will find it enthralling as will adults. It's also great to have on in the background or on a long journey. Hope this is helpful!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Enjoyable for all ages (22 May 2001)I love Stephen Fry's reading of this book. Although it is typically recommended for 9 years and up, my daughter, who is just five, is already hooked. Fry's clear reading makes the story easy to follow even for younger listeners. | ![]() |
